We’ve just come home from a short vacation, spending a couple of days in Squamish and then a couple more staying with friends who live on Lillooet Lake, just outside of Pemberton.
The sun shone for a couple of days — and then we had the kind of weather where the sea and the sky became a single cloud-wreathed, water-logged entity.
All of it was beautiful.
On Saturday, we went for a long wander with Tim Cyr, a local Squamish photographer, and his partner, Leanne. We were on the lookout for ravens and a wolf. Ravens, we found in abundance. Not so lucky with the wolf, although we did find what looked very much like wolf scat in the area where the animal is often seen.
Here’s a short visual summary of our holiday, before the normal Crow News resumes.

Utterly lovely! There’s nothing like that sound; the call of the raven somehow conjures up the wild spirit of creation itself. Thanks so much June!
Wow you took some stunning shots!!
Wow beautiful montage….thank you!
I am always excited to see your writing in my in-box. I love the mixture of corvids, landscape and the inimitable Geordie, with his expressive face and body posture.
Do you recall that person (I am sure you do; they were so negative) who questioned why you continue to write about these subjects when the world is going dealing with serious and complicated chaos? I was struck by their determination to be super-nasty and hurtful and it said volumes about their state of mind. I’ve thought so much about your response and self-questioning and who really cares? WE care!!!
I’d like tell you to write anyway and ignore the ignorant naysayers: Who is this person to try to diminish you and attack you personally, and your musings and observations and care for the wicked smart Corvidae? I think cynicism is the last resort of the lost and aimless; it takes guts and a fight to not give in to that destructive emotion. Your writings matter to ME and countless others, who no doubt really care about the joy and rewards you experience and then share outward to those who can see the priceless jewel that is Nature, and the citizens who reside therein. Not just corvids but all of the Earth.
I thank you profusely for your work.
Appreciate the second hand trip through your pics, June. Beautiful.
