This is a previous interaction between the young c This is a previous interaction between the young crow couple with the male as yet unclear on his nesting season duties. As the female has to sit on the eggs while they incubate(about 18 days) — the males job is to feed her. This female has to keep leaving the nest to remind her mate of his responsibilities. And even then … He did, eventually, share the worm with her, but it took quite a performance on her part! #citycrowstories #nestingseason #crowcouple
Female crow begging her mate to come and feed her. Female crow begging her mate to come and feed her. I have the feeling this is their first nesting season as she’s really having to do a lot of calling to remind him to bring snacks while she sits on the eggs— which is, of course, drawing a lot of attention to their nest location. Hopefully Mr. Crow gets the hang of things soon! #citycrowstories #nestingseason #crowphotography

Every day, as part of my extensive crow-safari, I Every day, as part of my extensive crow-safari, I walk up the hill by the local church — usually twice, for the cardio. For the last few weeks, the route has been a fantasy of pink blossoms — first on the branches, then as a luxurious carpet. The blossoms are drying now, and about to turn into pink dust — but still beautiful.
Geordie (the dog) and I have a special agreement about the hill walk. In general, we both stop a lot — him to sniff, me to watch, chat to and photograph crows. For the three uphill blocks, I like to walk fast, without pausing. It took Geordie a while to come around to this idea, but now he knows that if we race up the hill, his reward is a slow downhill journey with unlimited sniff stops — giving me time to photograph the blossoms. 🌸

I’ve also added a photo at the end of my cutting guides for the parts — all hand cut from cardboard.
